In Reply To Nixit / Arnel - is 5 gallons of race fuel sufficient to posted by The Devils Z on September 07, 2008 at 07:07 AM

Message especially on high HP cars. I've still never run my high HP vert at the track. All of my racing was on the black TT stock motor and stock fuel pressure. But I can tell you with that setup, I ran very low fuel to keep weight down. I would put only 2 gallons of 116 octane fuel. And that was plenty enough to go thru 10 rounds of low 12-sec pass bracket racing. And then still get to the gas station once leaving the track. I've never had any fuel pressure issues. A/F charts were always spot on. And I would think 5 gallons is more than plenty.

I would also like to add that any racing with high HP cars, with very custom setups, it is critical to knows the vitals of your car. Every pass I made down the track, I had numbers for almost everything after the run. See a couple of my racing outting blogs:

And not taking any sides here, I do want to make this point. Personally, a tune to me is a tune for that day under those conditions. It may not apply to a different day due to many variables in the car setup and conditions. Two things I watch closely now in my vert, water temp and EGT. I can tell you that for my setup these 2 #'s rise quickly doing spirited street driving. And I have to back off and chill out before I blow my motor. I guess, the moral of my story is simple: closely monitor your engine vitals at all times.
